This is a Japanese-based form of hands on healing designed to facilitate energectic balance in the chakras and a deep state of relaxation. The practitioner channels universal life force energy through their hands into the client, who remains fully clothed, similar to a Thai massage session. The session starts at the top of the head and the therapist continues moving their hands to different positions on the body, eventually working down to the feet. Reiki energy is frequently identified by a sensation of heat coming from the therapist's hands, which may contact the body or remain slightly above the body in the client's energy field. This gentle form of healing may be indicated in cases, such as illness or chemotherapy, when more conventional forms of massage may be contraindicated.
